He is a Microsoft MVP for Coosmos DB and a P-TSP for Microsoft Healthcare and Life Sciences (Cosmos DB and IoT). Howard is also a DocumentDB Wizard and TechNet Ninja. He has co-authored several books, the last one being “HL7 for BizTalk”, and has been a technical reviewer for two others.

Howard is very heavily involved with development and implementation of a new HL7 Standard, FHIR. He is considered the “go to” person by Microsoft, for HL7 integration on Azure. He is a member of the Microsoft HL7 FHIR Virtual Team and has authored an eBook, HL7 FHIR on Azure for Microsoft.

Howard is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP), and Microsoft Partner Technology Solutions Professional (P-TSP) for Integration (formerly known as Virtual Technology Solutions Professional – VTSP). He is a member of these elite communities chosen to augment Microsoft’s internal Technology Specialists team, and provide enterprise architectural guidance to Microsoft customers and community.
Howard has been working directly with the Microsoft Product Managers to integrate FHIR on Azure. He has published two FHIR integration tutorials to the Microsoft Azure portal:
Howard has taken part in several FHIR Connectathons. For his first one, he completed the Patient Track using Microsoft BizTalk Server in under two hours. He has also provided guidance for other participants on using Microsoft products and services for their FHIR applications. He has been working with FHIR over four years.
